Growing up, I assumed that shutting down the Interstates for pilgrims carrying giant wooden crosses was normal. A few years ago I visited Tuscon on Good Friday, and I was shocked that the interstates were open and not a single person had a giant cross they were dragging around with them. This is the afternoon procession from San Miguel. I didn't make it out onto the Interstate to photograph the pilgrims headed to San Acacia.
